Greg Townsend: Orange County Legislator District 7
Welcome
Taxes - As your legislator, I am, and will continue to work hard to keep taxes low all while seeing that the money collected is used to the greatest benefit in our community.  I have consistently voted to support budgets that meet the needs of the citizens I represent while also supporting a fiscally sound budget.  Our community should, and under my leadership, will be able to see the benefits of lower taxes and a stable budget with a higher return on your hard earned money.

Open Space – One of the greatest things about living in Orange County is the ability to experience the benefits and amenities of living in an urban setting, coupled with the refreshing exhilaration of open air, green fields and rolling hills. As your legislator I support those programs that create open space and recreational opportunities for all the residents in Orange County. I am working closely with our state representative to assist in their proposal for open space. It is my goal to keep Orange County's beauty by working to protect the fields, waterways, and other natural resources, so that our children and their children can experience the same Orange County you and I share.

Active Adult Housing -(Active 55 and over) In the tradition of family and caring for the generation of those that came before us, it will be my purpose to provide affordable housing to active adults, 55 and over, in the community where they have lived and raised their families. Active adult communities enjoy their independence, remaining close to family and friends and enjoy an active lifestyle. In order to provide for the active adult housing in Orange County's Community, it will be necessary to reduce the cost of living so this generation can enjoy all of what Orange County continues to offer them without the burden of excessive property taxes or expenses.

Camp La Guardia - Now known as Central Orange Development Area - As your legislator I will continue to monitor and work hand in hand with the committee of county commissioners and planners to make the best choice for this 256 acre property. My goal is to have this property back on the tax rolls as quick as possible to ensure no further tax burden to the people of southern Orange County and to preserve the quality of life established in this area.

Traffic - As your legislator I will continue to work with the County to ensure all safety concerns are met as the expansion of Route 17 is reviewed and improvements are performed to accommodate the congestion, which exists at this time and for the future. To assist with the congestion I have supported the expansion of the County Emergency Service Department to include a position focused on planning for accident detouring, proactive traffic solutions, and to relieve our troubled roadways while keeping the safety of our residents as first priority.
