Greg Townsend is serving as Orange County Legislator representing the entire Village of Monroe, a portion of the Village of Harriman and a portion of the Town of Monroe. It does not include the Village of Kiryas Joel. He was elected to office in 2008. Greg is serving as a committee member on the Public Safety, Personnel & Compensation, and Health & Mental Health Statutory Committees. He is employed by Marshall & Sterling Insurance as Sales Manager.
In addition to his leadership role for the district, Greg serves on the Executive Board of Directors of Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Executive Director of Monroe Housing Development for Seniors, Board of Directors of Middletown Kiwanis Club, and an active member of Catskill Hudson Bank Advisory Board. He is also involved in leadership roles for the Elks, Masons and a member of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
Greg also served as a Village of Monroe Trustee for 10 years, past chairman of the Architectural Review Board for the Village of Monroe and past president of Middletown Chamber of Commerce.
Greg is a lifetime resident of Orange County and a community resident of Monroe for 22 years along with his wife Jean and their two children, Michael and Samantha. Greg's driving force, which keeps him active, is his desire to make a difference and give back to the community making it a safe and secure environment for future generations.
